Hear the statements made by your three mayoral candidates on Everett water and wastewater rates and the false statements being made. I have attached below two recordings along with documents to prove the misinformation that is being spread by some of the current council. The only one to stand up for the residents was the current Councillor ward 2 and mayoral candidate Bob Meadows. I HAVE NAMED ALL THE COUNCILLORS IN MY FACEBOOK SITE POST AND HERE FOR FULL DISCLOSURE.
The first recording around one minute long : The current councillor for ward 1 and mayoral candidate Anub Simson states that with the Everett wastewater plant there will be more people on the plant and that will reduce costs. Yet, he cannot provide any documentation to back his statements. If more people on the system reduces costs which in turn should reduce rates then why are the water rates still so high when 600 plus homes in Colgan have been added to the water system? The simple fact is with additional people comes additional materials and maintenance required to maintain the system. The Colgan plant is for 600 plus homes at $800,000 per year for maintenance while the Everett plant is for 2000 homes plus existing residents for future hookup. How can the Colgan costs for 600 plus homes at $800,000 be the same for a larger plant that is being built for 2000 homes plus existing residents?
He then knowingly misleads the residents and states that the past council approved the Colgan plant for the Colgan development, plus the existing residents and the future development in Keenansville. As a current councillor for ward 1 and a lawyer by profession he should know very well that council has to follow legal binding decisions of the land tribunal. It was the Minutes of settlement from the land tribunal in 2009 point 4 on page 2 that I have attached below for the residents review that ordered the township to build the Colgan plant for the Colgan development and the existing residents of Colgan. No such land tribunal order exists for Everett. It was not the councils choice to include the existing residents of Colgan . I am surprised that as a lawyer by profession he does not even know that legal decisions of the land tribunal have to be followed or was he expecting the past council to ignore the land tribunal decisions? Nowhere, in the decision does it talk about building capacity for any development in keenansville. In fact the township engineer informed the current council and the councillor for ward 1 Anub Simson that there is no more capacity in the Colgan wastewater plant for four more homes in Colgan. Could the current councillor for ward 1 Anub Simson please provide the documents to back up his statements that the Colgan plant was built to accommodate any keenansville development? In the council meeting video recordings he then tells all the residents to keep in mind that it is good planning and not an issue for him. Yes, it is not an issue for him as he does not have to pay to hookup to the system as he does not live in the settlement boundaries. It seems this statement was made by the councillor of ward 1 Anub Simson for the sole purpose to mislead people and draw the residents attention away from the problem before us. The problem before us is the capacity being built in the Everett plant to accommodate the existing Everett residents WITHOUT ANY LAND TRIBUNAL DECISION ORDERING THE TOWNSHIP TO BUILD THE PLANT TO ACCOMMODATE THE EXISTING EVERETT RESIDENTS. CAN COUNCILLOR ANUB SIMSON PRODUCE THE LAND TRIBUNAL DECISION THAT HAS ORDERED THE TOWNSHIP TO BUILD THE EVERETT PLANT TO ACCOMMODATE THE EXISTING RESIDENTS?
Also, residents need to know that the Colgan development was approved by 5 members of council Scott Anderson, Annette Bays, Jonathan Pita, Ronald O’Leary and Deborah Hall Chancey aka Deborah Hall in 2019. Deputy Mayor Bob Meadows voted against the Colgan subdivision. This meeting to approve the Colgan subdivision was especially petitioned by four of the above named councillors on a day that I (Floyd Pinto) could not attend as I was at another meeting. The Colgan minutes of settlement was approved by the land tribunal in 2009 before any of the members of the 2018-2022 term of council were even elected to council. Could councillor Anub Simson provide any council minutes to prove that the councillors from 2018-2022 were involved in the 2009 minutes of settlement to back his claim that the past council approved the Colgan plant to include existing residents?
This shows how much misinformation the ward 1 councillor and mayoral candidate Anub Simson will put out to the residents just to divert the conversation away from the main issue in Everett. Below is the one minute recording from the council meeting the second recording is further down.

In the second recording around 8 minutes long : The ward 2 councillor and mayoral candidate Bob Meadows stated that council has been providing misinformation to residents that water and wastewater rates will come down with development. His statement is 100% right and he is speaking the truth. Although the current councillor for ward 5 Adam Cox might not have told residents that the new developments will bring water and wastewater rates down, many past councillors and some of the current members of council have informed residents that new development will bring down the rates.
You can then hear our current Mayor and Mayoral candidate Scott Anderson state “No one has said the water and wastewater rates were going down. They would be shared amongst more users that would result in LESS COSTS INCREASES. No one has said the costs are going down the costs are what they are as they are today.” But was development not going to reduce costs and there by reduce the water and wastewater rates? Are the residents to understand that with all the development in Colgan and Everett there will be no relief to the high water and wastewater rates? Then what is the purpose of this development?
The current councillor for ward 2 and mayoral candidate Bob Meadows then put a motion on the floor that all the existing residents in Everett shall not be forced to hookup to the new Everett wastewater system. This motion was similar to the motion passed by past council in 2020 that I (Floyd Pinto) put forward when I was Mayor and our current Mayor Scott Anderson voted against in a recorded vote. This current motion by the ward 2 councillor Bob Meadows was seconded by the current ward 4 Councillor Miklos Borsos.
All on council supported the motion to not force the existing residents of Everett to hookup. HOWEVER, AS THERE IS AN ELECTION APPROACHING THERE IS A CATCH IN THEIR VOTES. HEAR THEIR STATEMENTS FOR YOURSELF IN THE RECORDINGS BELOW.
The current ward 1 Councilor and Mayoral candidate Anub Simson asked the clerk for clarification if the motion not to force the Existing Everett resident’s to hookup would be binding on future councils next term and if the motion could be changed with a simple majority of council? The clerk replied that it can be changed with a simple majority and residents could be made to hookup. Why would he ask this question unless he plans to overturn this motion and force all the existing residents in Everett to hookup to the new wastewater plant after the elections. Would he also withdraw the past Everett and Colgan Motion from 2020 and force all existing residents in Colgan and Everett to hookup?
Our current Mayor and Mayoral candidate Scott Anderson also states “There is no indication in a staff report that we want to hookup anyone AT THIS TIME. I THINK IF THATS THE GOAL THEN THATS THE GOAL.” The key words are “AT THIS TIME”, so will the time be after the elections? Is that the GOAL? Why would you build capacity to accommodate existing unserviced residents if that is not the Goal? Does out current Mayor Scott Anderson even read his staff reports before he comes for council meetings? How can he say there is no indication in a staff report that we want to hookup anyone when the staff report attached below clearly states “to accommodate the existing unserviced residents in the Everett settlement boundary”
The current councillor for ward 2 and also a mayoral candidate Bob Meadows was the only one who stood up for the residents and had no concerns with the motion nor did he have any GOALS. This discussion shows who on council has your best interest in mind.
The final motion to proceed with the agreement and not force the residents to hookup was approved by all on council except councillor Bob Meadows and Councillor Miklos Borsos. They both raised very valid points. Why approve this agreement when staff have stated the FFA (Farsight framework agreement) will be on the August 2026 council meeting agenda and everything can be reviewed together? What is the hurry to push this agreement through?
